"Often changes are made in one support system, such as a new curriculum, without coordinated changes being made in all the other linked systems: the learning environment, teacher professional development, aligned assessments and standards, for example. These isolated changes may generate enthusiasm for awhile, but without the support necessary from the other systems to sustain the change, they almost always become short-lived "experiments". Trilling and Fadel, p. 122.

In order for the new 21-century J.W. Killam School to become a success, we will be looking for grant funding for the following items which may include but are not limited to:

Staff:
-More staff in the arts/technology areas, i.e. drama teacher, band teacher, Lego engineering teacher
-2 Trained technology specialsts (1 for upper grades and 1 for lower) to teach web literacy skills (common sense media) and technology skills at least once a week
-On-site staff to maintain the technology
-Substitutes to:
1. Allow teachers common planning time for specialist and teachers, so they can collaborate on project ideas that address standards across the curriculum
2: Allow teachers to attend professional development based on the new school concepts.
such as Trouble Free Playground Workshops
-Parent volunteers who are willing to commit to aiding in the successful implementation of Trouble Free Playground
-2 full-time school psychologist and/or counselors
-Full-time assistant principal
-Enough teachers to have classes sizes as small as 8-10 students

Technology:
-Updated technology for all grades, i.e. tablets, laptops, internet access
-Another Computer lab or multiple sets of labtops
-Web cams for skyping
-Head sets for the computers
-Updated memberships to web 2.0 tools
